Privacy at a glance

ViDic is an AI-assisted vocabulary learning application operated by Epoch Lab (“ViDic,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). We collect only the information reasonably necessary to provide accounts, vocabulary-learning features, AI-generated educational content, purchases, advertising, notifications, security, and app improvement. We do not sell personal information for money. ViDic is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, when it may be shared with service providers, how long it is retained, and the choices and rights available to you. By using ViDic, you acknowledge the practices described in this Policy.

1. Scope and Definitions

This Policy applies to the ViDic mobile application and related services, websites, support channels, and backend systems that link to this Policy (collectively, the “Service”).

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account and sign-in information

When you sign in using Google or Apple, we may receive and store:

We do not receive your Google or Apple account password.

2.2 Vocabulary and learning information

To provide and synchronize learning features, we may process:

Please do not enter confidential, financial, medical, government-identification, or other highly sensitive personal information into vocabulary searches or AI features.

2.3 AI feature inputs and outputs

ViDic uses artificial intelligence to create educational content, which may include vocabulary explanations, translations, example sentences, pronunciation or text-to-speech audio, and AI-generated images. To provide these features, we may send the following information to an AI service provider:

We design prompts and safety controls to produce educational content, but AI output may occasionally be inaccurate, unexpected, or unsuitable. Users can report problematic content within the Service where a reporting feature is available.

2.4 Device, diagnostics, and usage information

We and our service providers may automatically collect limited technical information, including:

ViDic does not collect precise GPS location unless a future feature clearly requests permission and this Policy is updated before collection begins.

2.5 Advertising information

If advertisements are shown, Google AdMob and related Google services may process:

Where required by law, we request consent before using information for personalized advertising. You can also limit ad personalization through your device settings. If ViDic is configured for users who are not eligible for personalized advertising, we may request non-personalized or otherwise restricted ads.

2.6 Purchase and subscription information

Purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number. We may receive:

2.7 Communications and support

If you contact us, we may collect your email address, message, attachments, device or account details you provide, and information needed to investigate and respond.

3. Information We Do Not Intentionally Collect

ViDic does not intentionally request or collect:

4. How We Use Information

We may also disclose information:

7. Sale and Sharing of Personal Information

We do not sell Personal Data for monetary consideration.

Some privacy laws define “sale” or “sharing” broadly and may treat the use of third-party advertising technology for cross-context behavioral advertising as a sale or sharing. Where applicable, you may opt out through an in-app privacy choice, consent form, device advertising settings, or by contacting us. We do not knowingly sell or share the Personal Data of children under 16.

8. Data Retention

We retain Personal Data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to provide the Service, maintain account and purchase records, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce agreements.

9. International Data Transfers

ViDic is operated from South Korea, and our providers may process information in South Korea, the United States, the European Economic Area, and other countries. These countries may have data-protection laws different from those in your location. Where required, we use appropriate contractual, organizational, or legal safeguards for international transfers.

10. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect Personal Data, including authenticated access, access controls, encrypted transmission where supported, security monitoring, and service-provider restrictions. No internet transmission or storage system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Your Choices and Controls

12. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your location and subject to legal exceptions, you may have the right to:

To exercise a right, contact epoch.lab@crepoch.com. We may need to verify your identity and authority before completing a request. We will not unlawfully discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

California residents may request to know, access, correct, delete, or obtain information about categories, sources, purposes, and disclosures, and may opt out of sale or sharing where applicable. Authorized agents may submit requests, but we may require proof of authorization and identity verification.

14. Children’s Privacy

ViDic is not directed to children under 13.

We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you are under 13, do not create an account, submit Personal Data, use personalized advertising features, or send information to us.

If we learn that we collected Personal Data from a child under 13 without legally sufficient consent, we will take reasonable steps to delete it. A parent or guardian who believes a child submitted Personal Data may contact epoch.lab@crepoch.com.

In countries where the minimum age for independent consent is higher than 13, users below that age must use the Service only with permission or consent from a parent or guardian as required by local law.

Because ViDic is currently a general-audience service rather than a child-directed service, the app-store target-audience declaration should be configured consistently with this section. If ViDic is later intentionally offered to children under 13, we will implement appropriate parental-consent, age-screening, advertising, SDK, data-minimization, and parental-rights measures before doing so.

15. AI-Generated Educational Content

AI-generated text, audio, and images are provided for educational and informational purposes. They may contain errors or unexpected results and should not be relied on as professional, medical, legal, financial, or safety advice. We may use automated and human-assisted safety processes to review reports, detect prohibited use, and improve the reliability of the Service. We do not use user learning content to create public profiles.

16. Third-Party Links

The Service may link to third-party websites or services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and we are not responsible for their independent practices.

17. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy to reflect changes in the Service, providers, laws, or data practices. We will post the revised version and update the “Last updated” date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before a material change takes effect.
